YouTube has taken another step forward in its commitment to making videos accessible to a global audience. The platform now offers video auto-dubbing, a feature which, although currently reserved for YouTube Partner Program channels focusing on education and information, will soon be extended to other types of content.
As soon as a video is uploaded to YouTube Studio, the tool automatically detects the video's original language. It then generates dubbed versions in the available languages. Currently, these are the languages supported:
Dubbed versions are available in the “Languages” section of YouTube Studio. Creators can listen to these dubbings to assess their quality. If a dub doesn't meet their expectations, they can unpublish or even delete it.
With automatic dubbing, videos can be made accessible to an international audience without heavy investment in post-production.
This new feature will enable you to reach viewers who might not otherwise have been able to consume your content due to language barriers. This opens up markets such as South Asia, Latin America and Europe.
Audiences who better understand an artist's or creator's message will be more inclined to interact with their content, subscribe to their channel and consume more videos. This could also increase opportunities for international collaborations.
